Environmental politics, my friend. Evil nuclear reactors out, sustainable energy in. Then they tore out the hydroelectric plants.... There never was enough funds to begin with.
I can see that. They ran out of money not long after the 3 mile island incident.
Hydro power is dangerous too. I recall reading about a dam breaking in China and millions being killed and thousands more displaced. Chernobyl, Simcity and this recent incident in Japan certainly isn't helping matters either. Many countries in Europe are using nuclear power and they're still here
Not sure why they couldn't get additional funding to finish. Would think the plant would pay for itself after some time.
