I got an invite to "like" a friend's photography business page. She "specializes" in wedding and engagement shoots, and charges what I feel is a high price for the results. I don't care for the term fauxographer (because it's elitist and a stupid term), but I may be tempted in this case. She's not bad, but she's not great either.

Many of the photos in her were out of focus, many were very grainy, the sky was over exposed, the posing looks awkward or doesn't compliment the individual and the composition was not great either. These are moments that folk, hopefully, only get one of, so it frustrates me when I see folk paying good monies for mediocre work. It's not good stewardship in my opinion.

I don't know if it's because this particular person gets praise from loved - ones and friends (I personally take that praise with a grain of salt), or if folk just think it's a quick way to make some cash, but I'm seeing it more and more common lately. Am I off base in my observation?

I really shouldn't care, it's none of my business, but it just irks me when I feel folk are being taken advantage of.

My cat has a cold, so the bet gave me some antibiotics for her. Attempted to give it to her orally, but she goes super saiyan. She's barely 8 lbs but puts up quite the fight.

I resorted to hiding it in wet good and she scarfs it down. Now that her nose is clear, she can smell the medicine and the trick isn't working anymore :grump:

I'm wanting to get into water-color painting. I took a local workshop too learn basics of technique, but when we were tasked with painting a scene, I struggled. I think in lines instead of shades and layers.

Can anyone suggest a book or something that's helped them? Beginner tutorials and books I've come across don't seem to really cover that aspect.

Thanks!

-Steve

I am a brother, a son, a friend, and at least one other thing. Most of my pass time involves having fun in some sort of fashion.

I code, I game, I also enjoy cooking and photography. I am learning new things everyday with my mistakes. With luck I can take those mistakes and improve myself :)
